SUMMARY

With more than ten years of expertise in all areas of graphic design, I am an enthusiastic graphic designer who recently moved back to Lisboa. I have worked as an in-house designer and as a freelancer in design studios and companies in England, Portugal, Spain, and The Netherlands.

I have solid skills in creating corporate images, internal communications and templates, flyers, brochures and pamphlets, magazines, point of sale materials, packaging, web design banners and layouts, merchandising, advertisements, and in-store communication materials.

My design solutions have resulted in higher customer satisfaction, bigger sales and contributed to increasing corporate and stakeholder societal value.

 

WORK EXPERIENCE

– I have successfully been creating corporate presentations, logotypes, brochures, invitations, and pamphlets for companies and other organizations. My clients include Havas Creative (Communication Agency), Inside Tours (tourism), Casas do Porto (tourism), Hotel Link Solutions (tourism), Trilhos & Tralhos (sports), Ginger Pai Yoga (well being), Nottingham University Business School (higher education), Maastricht University (higher education), Santore Design (accessories), and Lisbon Chill Out Hostel (tourism).
– I have efficiently been engaging with clients to develop a detailed understanding of their requirements for brand definition (e.g. brand message, design, budget, schedules and deliverables of the wanted design and communications solutions). I apply my design skills to this understanding and create solid and coherent corporate internal and external communication materials.

[2015-2017] Graphic Designer at John Lewis Financial Services, London I www.johnlewis.com 

– I actively contributed to the rebranding of ‘John Lewis Finance’ and ensured its materials (print and digital) followed the new brand guidelines and that all stages of the project, from concepts to print/digital, were delivered within budget and deadlines.
– I was responsible for producing conceptual ideas and layouts that lead to appropriate design solutions for JL’s products: ‘Insurance’, ‘Banking’, & ‘Partnership Card’.
– I created new and managed existent artworks for print and digital solutions, including in-store leaflets, POS, CRM, website banners, emails, and internal communications.
– I successfully adapted the above-the-line Home Insurance campaigns into printed and digital designs, contributing to maintaining a unique and coherent brand value.
– I actively worked with internal and external stakeholders, such as agencies, suppliers, marketing/brand managers and directors, to develop graphics, artwork, and design solutions that were consistent with the respective JL brand guidelines.
– I thoroughly researched market trends and competitors data to bring innovation solutions to projects that helped promote the John Lewis brand.

[2015] Graphic Designer at Wallwik, London 

– I redesigned the 4 Wallwik’s e-commerce websites based on existing analytics and shopping trends. I created layouts, based on insights from by responsive grids, to improve consumers' shopping journey across all sales digital channels (desktop, mobile and tablet). My work resulted in a 130% increase in the sales of the company.
– I efficiently engaged with software developers to ensure that their coding work mirrored my design templates, met brand requirements and was delivered on time and budget.
– I successfully developed final print artworks including brand stationery, flyers and promotional brochures ensuring all brand requirements and guidelines were met.

[2012-2014]  Guest Lecture at Nottingham Trent University, Nottingham, England

– I taught postgraduate and undergraduate Marketing students on how Designers and Marketers work together, both in-house and in agencies, on the importance of Branding and Brand Heritage, and on what issues Marketers need to consider when communicating their brands to distinct cultural consumer groups. I used real life examples alongside theoretical perspectives in my lectures, which was extremely well received by students.

[2011-2012] Senior Designer at Boots.com, Nottingham, England (Currently Walgreens Boots Alliance)

– I was responsible for co-developing and approving the content and design layout of Boots sales website: Boots.com.

– I managed a team of junior designers to  develop new projects and analyse sales' plan web analytics using IBM core metrics.

– I actively engaged in internal social responsible work activities and was awarded “Champion” for my role in promoting Boots’ Corporate Social Responsibility actions and related information inside Boots.

[2006-2009] In-house Graphic Designer at Sonae, Lisbon, Portugal

– I was the sole responsibile for creating communication materials and actions for the marketing strategy of four retailer brands of Sonae: Worten (house appliances), Worten Mobile (cell phones), Worten Gamer (games) and Vobis (computer and photography). I successfully created large communication campaigns, developing visual concepts, press releases, point of sale material, merchandising, brochures, in-store communications, hoarding and advertising material, and preparing artworks for final printing. This contributed to higher customer satisfaction and increased sales for the aforementioned 4 brands.
– I provided innovative design template solutions to improving Sonae's internal communications problems.

[2003-2006] Editorial Designer at Publishers Impala, Sintra, Portugal

– I solely designed interior layouts and covers for women magazines dealing with subjects like fashion, gossip, and well being & health. I also managed a team of 5 designers that worked for a weekly magazine.

[2003-2003] Freelance Graphic Designer at Design Studio RBA, Lisbon, Portugal

– I had full responsibility for designing the packaging for Milupa (baby food) and a product catalogue for Visiodidata (computers).


[2003-2003] Art Director at Communication Agency BBDO, Lisbon, Portugal

– I directed art materials for print and outdoor advertising, newsletters, and storyboards for television commercials. I was responsible for adapting the communications of international television commercials to the Portuguese market.

[2002-2002] Graphic Designer at Studio Quim Larrea, Barcelona, Spain

– I designed newsletters, brochures, direct mail and web site layouts, packaging, posters, logotypes and corporate images, and brand strategies for several clients of Quim Larrea & Associates. Examples of clients include, Dany (decorations), Generalitat de Catalunya (government), Ger & Clau (real estate), Workers (foot apparel), Col.legi d'Arquitectes de Catalunya (professional association of architects), and Ininsa (engineering).

[2001-2001] Junior Designer at Design Studio EDC, Estoril, Portugal

– I was responsible for designing and producing advertisements, newsletters, brochures, direct mail, packaging, posters, point of sale materials, packaging, and logotypes for EDC's clients. Examples of clients include, Unilever (F&B), Ratiopharm (pharmaceutical), Syngenta (agro-business), and Silva (law firm).

[2000-2001] Junior Designer at Communication Agency McCann Erickson, Lisbon, Portugal

– I was responsible for designing and producing brand identities, newsletters, posters, catalogues, advertising, brochures, direct mail, and point of sale materials for McCann’s clients. Examples of clients include, Unilever (F&B), CGD (bank), ICEP and IAPMEI (Portuguese Government), VVP (motorways).
